I'd go with the proof quarters. Proof coins are specially struck using highly polished dies and have a near-perfect finish. They really are beautiful. Buy the proof coins you can afford (of your favorite states or designs), and search your pocket change for the best-looking circulated quarters. They're all out there and sometimes you'll find them in almost-new condition.

"Eric has 130 coins consisting of nickels and quarters."
n + q = 130
q = 130 - n

"The combined value comes to $ 15.90"
0.05n + 0.25q = 15.90
0.05n + 0.25(130-n) = 15.90
0.05n + 32.5 - 0.25n = 15.90
32.5 - 0.20n = 15.90
0.20n = 16.60
n = 83
q = 130-83 = 47

83 nickels and 47 quarters

The 1970-S proof set is worth about $ 7.25, the so-called small date cent variety is worth about $ 73.00 and the 1970 with the no S dime $ 12,000. These values are about what a dealer would pay. On the 1970-S small date cent the 7 is even with the 9 where as on the regular cent, the top of the seven is below the top of the 9.

q = qurarters
n = nickels

TWO EQUATIONS

- first requirement "total = 12"

q + n = 12

- second requirement number of quarters = 2 x number of nickels

q = n * 2

- solution step - substitute eq2 for q in eq1

2n + n = 12
3n = 12
n = 4

The coin is no longer legal tender in France. There was 184,834,000 minted and there are 2 varieties one has a small legend and one has a large legend. There is no price difference listed between them. The coin is quite common and not old enough to be much of a collectible, so it sells for .25 cents in a coin dealers world coin box. Maybe in the future the value will go up. The coin is made of aluminum-bronze. Sorry that it was not worth more, but there are some coins still out there with high values. There are 81 CFP Francs to the dollar.

Probably mostly as collectors items, and, unless in exceptional condition, not much even then. Too many minted. The metal value is not that great unless you have huge bags of them. Save them for the grandkids.

Silver is on the rise, and if you listen and believe the hype, silver has the potential of really taking off in the next 10 years. Depending on the years, condition, and demand some silver coins can be worth huge money.a 1916D mercury dime depending on condition is worth from $ 550.00-$ 6000.00. There are also people like me, that are always in the market to buy silver for investment. If you have any coins inparticular you have questions about, feel free to send me an email poisionice@yahoo.com, also contact if you wish to sell.
