I see dealers at shows and online selling these lots of 20, 50, 100 and even up to 1000(often uncleaned) ancient roman and byzantine coins all the time. Where do they get them from, and would it be possible for someone like me, ie just a ordinary hobbyist/collector, to get them from the same place?

Answer by Michael NCoins weren’t a bad idea; the problem is that they kept devaluating them. In other words, they had less silver or gold, but the government said they were worth the same as before.
