Question by I accept Chaos: I have a Canadian 5 cent coin from 1890 & and half dime from 1866?
On the back it has a crown then below it says 5 cents 1890 which is surrounded by some sort of vine plant. On the front it has a picture of a woman my guess is that it is queen victoria as it says on it “Victoria Dei Gratia Regina” then it says Canada below it. It is in very good shape.

I remember, years ago when the USA BANKING SYSTEM began buying coins (I was told) to re-stock the metal-supply.
Does the USA banking-system still offer these BUY-BACK-offers to buy the coinage at a higher rate than face-value?
With the reduced demand of metals for American coinage, I wonder if this is still done (on rare occasion.)

I have a dime from 1944. on one side it says united states of american and on the other it says 10 centavos fillipines Is this rare or worh anything.?

Answer by bbooptoon1959It is a Filipino 10 centavos piece struck by the US Mint during WWII. Check for a mintmark on the reverse. As for the value, it is a common date piece so dont expect more than $ 1

This is my coin
And this is what I suspect it to be, a Liberty $ 20 Dollar American Double Eagle coin.
But you will notice some key differences, like well, lets see… There’s no face. My coin’s face side has little precision scratches, parallel each other, across it. It’s very smooth.
On the Eagle side there are also some small differences. Like the shape of the eagles (shield?,)

since they stoped making US coins long ago with real silver and gold, and being that they’re very rare now a days to find one, would a real silver quarter be worth anything? b/c I have one dated 1949 made out of real silver,and I was just curious?

Answer by Samy DavidAround that years, 1 peso was more worthy than one dollar. Apply the same worth than actually, because mexican coins are currently devaluated. Sell them in a store that buys antique things.
