Bu and Proof Coins Question?

Question by BBooty: Bu and Proof Coins Question?
Do you think it it’s better to buy a full set of state quarters or to use the same money to buy a couple of proof stae quarters. Even though you are getting a few proof coins, is that better than just getting all BU quarters.

Best answer:

Answer by Dr. MI’d honestly go for the proof – and if I’m gonna buy them proof, I’d only buy them if they are certified by PCGS or NGS or I’d buy them from the u.s. mint.

I know the proof is $ 8 more expensive but do proof coins have a higher value later or are they more for their looks? What does the term “Proof-63″ (speaking about coins) mean?

Question by thisiscrosbyy: What does the term “Proof-63″ (speaking about coins) mean?
I am completely new to coin collecting, and I have a guide to all U.S. coins. It shows me the value of the coins. Over the values/prices are letter/number combos. i.e. G-4, MS-63, EF-40, etc. I have come across one that says, “Proof-63,” and it does not list what the meaning of it is in the guide. I would greatly appreciate it if you could fill me in. Thanks so much, Alex.
